Mitsubishi Motors in the UK are proud to announce that the Wiltshire Air Ambulance has been selected as the company’s employee charity partner for the next 12 months.
The charity was selected by a majority vote from the company’s employees, who will be partaking in a number of charity events over the course of the year to raise as much money for the charity as possible. Fundraising has already kicked off with a bake off for lift-off during air ambulance week, which showed off our amazing bakers at Mitsubishi Motors. Graham Vinnicombe, General Manager of Credit, who’s been working at Mitsubishi Motors in the UK for 17 years, has also run the Swindon Half Marathon in aid of the Wiltshire Air Ambulance.
Wiltshire Air Ambulance provides an essential helicopter emergency medical service (HEMS) to people who are critically ill or injured. After receiving an emergency call, the helicopter can reach anywhere in Wiltshire within 11 minutes. Tier paramedics are trained in Critical Care skills, which means they can administer additional drugs for advanced pain relief or sedation and can carry out advanced surgical procedures to stabilize patients before transporting them to the most appropriate hospital for their injuries.
Wiltshire Air Ambulance is available up to 19 hours a day, 365 days a year and attends, on average, three incidents a day. These include cardiac arrests, road traffic collisions, strokes, child related emergencies and horse riding accidents. In 2017, 621 missions were flown in the helicopter and their Rapid Response Vehicle (RRV) was called out to 254 incidents.
Gill Crowther, General Manager of HR, Mitsubishi Motors in the UK said: “We are delighted to support the Wiltshire Air Ambulance as our employee charity partner. This relationship will run alongside our existing corporate charity relationship with the amazing National Star Charity. We know that running and maintaining the air ambulance service is very costly but it relies solely on charitable donations to keep the operation going. This is such a worthwhile and fantastic charity as they continually save lives across the local area. We have a plan for the year of fun events to keep raising money for both our charities.”
Valerie Whistler, Partnerships Coordinator at Wiltshire Air Ambulance, said: “We are absolutely delighted to have been chosen as the Charity of the Year by Mitsubishi Motors in the UK and would like to thank their employees for choosing us. We are so grateful for their generous support, which will go a long way towards raising the £8,904 we need every day to keep the helicopter flying and saving lives in Wiltshire and surrounding counties. I’m looking forward to being involved in all the fun filled activities we already have planned for the coming months.”
Wiltshire Air Ambulance requires funding of £3.25m a year to operate, which equates to £8,904 per day. If you would like to donate to this worthwhile cause, or for more information https://www.wiltshireairambulance.co.uk/
